The Southeastern Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SMSHP) has had a remarkable year filled with accomplishments and opportunities that truly reflect our commitment to members' needs. Highlights include updates to our bylaws, engaging hybrid continuous education (CE) programs, stronger social media presence on (SMSHP LinkedIn/Facebook /Instagram), member spotlight, rewarding mentor-mentee program, an expanding rate of membership by 13%, and hosting meaningful networking events. 


ASHP President Dinner 

OWednesday September 10, 2025, we had the distinct honor of hosting an event honoring Melanie Dodd, PharmD, PhC, BCPS, FASHP, ASHP President, to Michigan for an impactful engagement education session focused on the future of pharmacy practice. During the Keynote presentation, “Putting Patients FirstASHP’s Vision for Future of Care and Collaboration”, Dr. Dodd outlined ASHP’s strategic priorities and shared insights from the 2025 Pharmacy Forecast- highlighting trends that will shape our profession and the healthcare landscapeWe had 90 members and leaders attending in person for this eventMembers were inspired by the momentum this visit generated to continue improving driving quality across all pharmacy practices.  

Dr. Dodd visited Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) and Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital (CHDH) to connect with pharmacy leaders, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy residents.

Continuing Education Programs and Recognitions  

In October, we hosted our annual Residency Showcase and Reverse Expo at Vista Tech Center in Livonia. Both events were well attended and proved to be great success.

2025 Officer Elections 

In addition, we conducted our annual elections in the month of October. Newly elected 2025 officers were installed on November 12th during our annual Awards Banquet at the Italian American Banquet & Conference Center, Livonia, MI. The program also included a CE on “Updates in Pharmacy Law” by Lindsey Kelley, PharmD, MS, Associate Chief Pharmacy Officer Michigan Medicine.  More than 120 members and guests were in attendance.

                    - Mentor-Mentee CV Review Program -

                    This year, the Society is excited to offer curriculum vitae (CV) reviews to practitioners who are newly entering the profession. P4 student pharmacists and current PGY-1 and PGY-2 residents of Southeastern Michigan can sign up to have their CVs reviewed by an experienced local pharmacy mentor. 


                    Event Structure:

                    • Participants will complete a brief Google form and submit their CV.
                    • Assigned mentors will review submissions and return feedback within two weeks.
